In Book 14 of “The Odyssey,” Ulysses, disguised as a beggar, goes to Eumaeus, the swineherd. Eumaeus feeds him and offers him shelter. He mentions that the suitors demand the fattest of the pigs, and he sends them when they ask. He takes good care of his herds though his master is not there.

I was wondering how natural it was for that group of people to eat pigs. I guess it is the same in most of the Western countries even now. Pepperoni, sausage, bacon, etc. are found everywhere.
