The Iliad Book VI post 2. Glaucus talks proudly about his lineage to Diomed. Diomed mentions that he is an old friend of his family. They depart as friends.

In Book 6 of The Iliad, Diomed comes across Glaucus who is fighting bravely for the Trojans. He asks him if Glaucus is a god since he does not want to fight gods and incur their wrath. He had already wounded Venus earlier. He asks him about his lineage, and Glaucus tells his story. They discover that they has some shared connections. Is it true to say that if you know the life story of your enemy, you might discover a new friend? Or are some differences so deep that an enemy is an enemy?
